This introductory biology course is a survey of the animal kingdom with a focus on structure and function, evolutionary relationships, adaptations, ecology, and behavior of invertebrates and vertebrates. The course is intended for both biology majors and students who are majoring in other disciplines. Throughout the course, we will emphasize scientific methodology (hypothesis formation and testing) and techniques (laboratory and field work), especially dissection of preserved specimens, and quantitative reasoning.​
